Movie Review

The Lady and the Highwayman

When you describe a movie, it probably isn't really a good thing if the description includes the following lines:
"It would make a great MST3K spoof."
"It's good in kind of a...Krull...kind of way."
"Well, at least the castles were cool."
"Hugh Grant is in tights."
"Hugh Grant is in tights...and a mullet."
"I'm glad I was drinking Bailey's because it killed some of the pain."
"There was sword fighting. It was BAD sword fighting, but there was indeed sword fighting."

It was kind of funny though. Hugh Grant and Lysette Anthony are the only two names I recognized...and they play exactly the same characters I've seen them play at other times. Hugh-man is the same smarmy upper class Brit that he always seems to be, and Lysette is the same ditzy blonde, needs-to-be-rescued-OH-save-me chiqua that she was in Krull. She's got better hair in Krull though. And I liked her as the Lucy in "Dracula: Dead and Loving It".

But Lysette, honey...fire your agent, baby. Don't be cast in anything called "Evil Beneath Loch Ness" or "Trilogy of Terror II". You KNOW that sequels are never gonna be as good as the first one.
