Ok...tooo many variations!

I finally remembered my password. Ye gods. I'm changing it to something a little less forgettable.

Soooo...this week is DELURKING WEEK! That's right! Comment to say hi if you read here. I know that I've got a dozen or so regular readers who comment on a frequent-ish basis (when comments work. :P) but I know there's a few of you who are lurking. So, say hi! :)

I want to talk about my resolutions...mostly they have to do with fun stuff, which I think is good. It keeps me from feeling too awful if it doesn't work out.

I) NO YARN FOR A YEAR
The rules are as follows:
1. The Knit-From-Your-Stash-a-Thon will start January 1, 2007 and run through September 30, 2007 -- a period of nine months.
2. We will not buy any yarn during that period, with the following exceptions:
2.a. Sock yarn does not count. What? You think we are made of stone?
2.b. If someone asks for a specific knitted gift that we really and truly do not have the yarn for, we may buy yarn to knit that gift.
2.c. If we are knitting something and run out of yarn, we may purchase enough to complete the project.
2.d. We each get one "Get Out of Jail Free" card -- we are each allowed to fall off the wagon one time.
3. We are allowed to receive gifts of yarn.
4. Spinning fiber of any sort is exempt.

So, what's coming up....for Valentines, Chinese New Year, St. Patrick's Day, my Mom's birthday and Easter, I'd like yarn please. ;)

II) FINISH UP UFO's (aka UnFinishedObjects)
I have waaaaaaaaaay too many projects started. So, these need to be finished.

III) DO MORE CREATIVE THINGS/MAKE TIME FOR MYSELF
Whether it's reading, knitting, sewing, painting, etc. I need to make more time for myself.

IV) SELL ARTWORK
I'm focusing mostly on photography, but I'm open to selling other items, especially fabric/yarn related stuff, since that stuff's REALLY bulky and I'd like to get it out of here.

V) CONTINUE HEALTHY LIFESTYLE
I fell off the wagon the last few weeks of 2006, due to extreme candy and cookie availability, but I've managed to stay fairly active. Now to finish off the holiday treats, and continue being active!

I've got a few other ones, but I'll save them for now. Currently, I've managed to work on all of these things except the unfinished projects one. I've been enamoured with fingerless gloves and made a pair of those. This of course, means I needed to make a matching hat! I don't have enough yarn for a matching scarf (wahhh!) so does this mean that it falls under the "if you don't have enough yarn for the project" clause? I'm thinking not yet. Maybe once I've busted my stash down a bit.

Incidentally, does anyone want to buy a pair of fingerless gloves? ;) They won't cost too much...probably 10 bucks or less. ;) Feel free to look through my stash pictures and pick a colour (I can also do kids size)

Jennifer was first...but I switched commenting systems, so hers is elsewhere. I'll copy/paste it later.

Sis

Master lurkers don't like being delurked, but because I'm such a nice guy (!) and in such a good mood (no user calls!!), I'll do it. [set lurk = off, Beethoven = present] There, you happy now? I could be. Good luck with your interview...and your resolutions. Call/email me sometime.

Hello, from your friendly neighborhood lurker!

I can think of few things that I need more desperately than a hand-knitted pair of fingerless gloves. :) Got anything in emerald green?

Hey Beethoven! Good to hear from you. Soooo, when you gonna start your own blog? This is how I keep track of most of my people. :)

Grey: w00t! Good to see you. Same question applies as above. :) Are you serious about the gloves? It's something that is JUST crazy enough to be you being silly, but since you work outside so much...yeah. Hehe. Let me know. Anyway, I have some dark green for sure, not sure about emerald.

My own blog? Are you serious?? I can only just barely post comments on other peoples' blogs. This world is an unkind place for technophobes. :p

I am oh so very serious about the gloves. :) Dark green will be just fine.

LOL! Ok, I'm sure these gloves are cursed, but I'll see what I can do about a set for ya.

Cursed, you say? Um, why?

Karin said...

Because while the first pair that I made turned out gorgeous, they're now MIA, and they were getting frayed on my velcro jacket closings. This pair I'm making for my mom...the first one was too tight, so I decided to make the next one slightly looser...and I wound up making it even tighter. Gahhhhh...

That kind of cursed I can handle. :) I was thinking more "All your food will taste of not but ash forevermore ," or "You will never find true happiness, but toil in despair all your days". Off-sized gloves? I'll struggle through somehow.

LOL!! I'm not that talented, I'm afraid. Maybe if someone got me some mohair from a goat sacrificed in dark ceremony or something.

How long do you want the part that goes up the wrist?

Anonymous said...

Nuts! I'm all out of darkly sacrificed goat hair. Would you settle for a swatch of human hair cut from the head of a condemned murderess moments before the trap of the gallows opens under her feet? I still have some of that left.

How long should the should the wrist part be? Not sure. Maybe two or three inches - at least long enough to tuck under my coat sleeves.

it cracked me up to imagine the pain of not buying yarn for a year. if i tried to do that with books I would go insane. must.. add to hoard... and gloat...

"fingerless gloves " ohhhhhh! Are you still trying to get rid of yarn? I would totally buy some fabulous hand-knitted armwarmers.... in fun colors... if non-wool!

black and pink?

i'll email you!
