November 11th

"November 11th"
The Cruzeros

My uncle Bob lost his leg in the war
Southern Italy, 1944
They flew him back home to the Vancouver rain
He was pumped full of morphine
But he still felt the pain.
He still felt the pain.

They built him a new leg
But it never fit right
And it bothered him for the rest of his life.
But he could swim like a fish
And play cards like a shark
And he taught me courage
Comes straight from your heart

November 11th, 11 am.
I stop what I'm doing, wherever I am
In a moment of silence,
I think about what might have been
Without soldiers like him.

Now the soldiers are older
And many have gone
Like my uncle Bob
But his memory lives on
We live in freedom
'Cause they won that war
So remember what this day is for.

November 11th, 11 am.
I stop what I'm doing, wherever I am
In a moment of silence,
I think about what might have been
Without soldiers like him.
