Feeling groovy.

I found a cheque that I needed to pay off my Visa bill today. :D Yay! I've got space in my room and Operation: Get the Giant White Monster Desk Out Of My Room So I Can Have A Lovely New Inexpensive Desk is coming along nicely.

However, you know what annoys me? ... Well, yes, that does. But that's not what...ok, fine that too. Lots of things annoy me. Shut up now. I find it disproportionately annoying when I look at an ad and think "Ooh! Cute shoes!" or "I want that skirt/dress" only to find out that the ad is for the pantyhose. :p

In other news...I've been waiting for my books to arrive from the University bookstore. I've been stalking my front door, frightening the boy with the local paper when I wrenched the door open as he was putting it in the letter box. I want my books, dammit! I want to get a head start on reading them so that I can lie in bed and pretend to work while I take a nap.

Wow.

People I really care about aren't doing too well. I wish I could help them. Please email me or call me or something if you need me. I feel helpless just watching.

If you could comment with something happy or nice even if it seems inane I'd appreciate that. I need some happy thoughts.

Here, I'll even go first.

My hair looks really cute. Oh, and I'm doing really well with karate! :D And I'm tired in a not-sick-but-just-need-to-go-to-bed-after-I-get-some-juice kind of way.

To Do List And Desk Drawing

So much less panicky. The list got big when I started blogging it.

To do list.

Since school is starting in...ohmygod...seven days, and I don't plan on having any time for, well, anything...I have a bunch of stuff I need to get done before all hell breaks loose and crashes around my head...to mix my metaphors.

KARIN'S TO DO LIST (comment if you think I missed anything)
-write to do list
-break the ellipsis habit (these ... )
-clean bathroom, including ceiling corners (cobwebs! Ew!)
-investigate wiring ADSL down into my room
-empty large kids desk that has been in my room unused (except as a junk receptacle) for the last eight years.
-get kids desk that has been in my room unused for the last eight years (except as a junk receptacle) out of my room.
(aside: that desk has been a giant white elephant in my room...I rarely notice it except when I get really cranky that it's there, and USELESS AND HUGE!!!!)
-sort through boxes that just had crap thrown into them when we had the flood (and at other times, if I'm being completely honest...)
-move boxes into my closet, or otherwise get them the hell off my floor.
-take roughly 500 books to used bookstores, and/or bookcross them. (my username is CanadaGrrl)
-clean out car (since I'll be parking it in places for a long time all next year...places which are probably less safe than outside my house WHERE I STILL GOT BROKEN INTO)
-get neatly bagged popcans and bottles out of my room (I do well at getting them into the bags, now I need to get them out of the house and turned into money)
-hopefully I'll already have the space, but if not, rearrange furniture to fit a new, lovely, inexpensive desk.
-buy lovely, inexpensive desk (probably from Superstore) to replace the white monstrosity currently residing in my room.
-set up lovely, inexpensive desk
-move my computer down onto my lovely, inexpensive desk (I'm slightly enamoured of the idea of getting a new desk...not that I'm sure you'd notice at all)
-clean kitchen/studio and move the rest of the loose art supplies somewhere else.
-build this so that I become a fantastic student with my lovely, expensive new desk and fantastic armrest dealie. (bah, who'm I kidding? I'll be asking someone who's got mad wood skills to build it.)
-edit three previously written articles for SPIN and write two more that I've committed to writing.

Oh my god. Did I say there were only seven days left until school starts? *starts jibbering in panic*

I changed my mind...don't add any more things in the comments. Support in the form of chocolate, alcohol, chocolate alcohol and/or assistance in moving stuff or being the "What the hell are you keeping THAT for" person when I go through boxes will be gratefully accepted.

Holy crap.

Ughnngndksdoaien..odfieoawihadhvnboooowlwlwlwww...

It must be love.

I got spoiled rotten this weekend. :) We wound up not going to Pender (financial/me feeling like crap/etc.) and basically hung around Dave's place all weekend. Highlights of the weekend: Dave cutting and dyeing my hair (my mom: "You trust him to cut your hair? It MUST be love"), disc golf and me not getting bitten/stung by anything, plums and plum cake, teriyaki steak and stirfry and prawns, sleeping in, much cuddling, 24 (aka The Jack Bauer Power Hour), relaxing, visiting the Poke and family.

Now for the whining.

I have been sleeping SO MUCH lately. I feel nauseated a lot of the time, and when I'm not feeling sick I feel dizzy. My joints and muscles are aching most of the time. I was in town so I could've gone to karate, but I fell asleep and didn't make it. Dave tried to wake me up and I vaguely remember that, then going back to sleep. This is bad because I actually got up and walked around for a little while before foggily going back to sleep. (Foggily a word? Whatever.)

I'm going to the doctor this week. (Hello yearly female test...this is a reminder to the other six or so female bloggers whom I know who have it at the same time of year as I do) I'm going to talk to her about the tick bite (since I'm paranoid and it's not really disappearing the way that it should) and why on earth I feel like utter crap.

Pet fever

I get like this once in a while...I think it's when I'm ovulating. I need something soft and fuzzy to take care of. Usually this results in my drooling over puppies and kittens in a pet store, but refrain from buying anything because it wouldn't make much sense. I miss having my fish tanks up, but since I'll (please God) be moving out within a year it doesn't make sense to put them up, only to have to tear them down again to move.

However, my best friend has raised some society finches which are just the most adorable little birds. (Scroll down...the cute ones are at the bottom...they're fairly hideous as hatchlings) They have this sweet little call...it's like "prrrrrr...peep peep peep peep...prrrrrrr peep peep peep." They aren't that messy and they'll land on you when they fly around.

I want these little babies. They're just too adorable.

However, I'd need to clean the cage, and change the water and food, and let them fly around, and clean up after them when they poop all over the place, and vacuum up the seed they chuck around.

But it sounds like a good idea...

*uncrashed*

I feel sooooooo much better than I did yesterday.

*crash*

I still feel like I'm going to throw up. I'm shaking, and I've had a lump in my throat for most of the day. I thought that was a lame literary device to show someone was emotional. Apparently not.

Faith in humanity restored? Check.

Someone just called me saying that he found my disc that I lost last weekend (this would be the weekend with the wasp sting). Whee! I might even get it back in time to go to Pender this weekend.

Now, I must get off my ass (or stay on it, since I need to be at the computer) and arrange the rest of the weekend, so that we've got a place to go to.

Up, and down, and up, and down again.

Whee! Aren't mood swings FUN?!! :P

I'm on a low right now after being REALLY high for...wow...over a week. I crashed sometime last night, and I'm still feeling emotionally beaten up. Wow. :(

No fabulous title

I'm so jittery today, I feel like I'm going to throw up. Nothing huge is happening... I'm just feeling nervous. I hate this. I've been thinking, and that's never a good sign.

(insert snarky, annoyed, angsty remark here.)

I wish my stomach would settle the fuck down.

Thinking...

...my hair has gotten boring again.

Realizing...the last time I thought that, I had hot pink hair two days later.

From the annals of "Gee, why didn't I think of that."

Apparently disc golfing for four hours straight causes pain the next day. Ow. I think every joint is sore. My finger feels better...it's not as swollen or sore, but my hip feels like it's going to pop out of its joint. This is a recurring injury that I usually get during Ultimate season, but it seems to have stiffened up after yesterday.

Oh, and I have a sunburn on my upper chest where my tank top didn't cover. I managed to remember to put a little sunscreen on it yesterday, so it's more itchy than painful, but it's still annoying. :P I get to put lavender/peppermint (healing and cooling) oil on it and aloe (healing). Sticky and candy scented...that's me and my sheets. :P And NOT because of naughty activity either. :)

Correlation does not always mean causation.

So I wore bug repellent again while disc golfing...last time I did this I became dinner for a tick, and the time before that was when I was about ten. So this time I get stung by a wasp. On my finger which is on the hand that I throw with. For crying out loud! This was on the second hole and my drive was really great...before my disc had landed I got stung, and that was it. The next four hours was me throwing crappy throw after crappy throw with a swollen, numb and aching finger.

Then I lost a disc in the water. *sigh* Not my day. I need chocolate almonds. Fortunately I have chocolate almonds. *collapses into bed with a good book and said almonds*

Coolest thing I've done all month.

Yesterday before my karate lesson (UNDER SUPERVISION!), I broke a two inch thick concrete slab with my bare hand. That is all.

Friday, August 19, 2005

whoa...dizzy.

I did karaoke tonight, and apparently I'm pretty good...I got some compliments from people that I wouldn't expect it from. :D

I'm feeling dizzy and meyyah...some people were doing Bohemiam Rhapsody, so Dave and I were headbanging a la Wayne and Garth (I did a fabulous air guitar) and now my neck is all wobbly.

Sorry this post is "teh suxxor", but...well, my head is about to fall into my lap. Yeah.

I like karaoke much lots. And I wasn't even drunk!

So. Tired.

I babysat yesterday to today...and I'm exhausted. The kids were great (brother and sister, 12 and 10) and the pets were great too (1 year old cat, BIG golden retriever) but I don't sleep well in a new place and my allergies were acting up a bit.

Did anyone hear the RAIN last night? Holy smokes...I thought the sky was falling.

Checklist of stuff to do...
Three or four articles for SPIN. (One's done! One's being researched! [er...not right this second.])
Edit my FREAKING NOVEL. (5 pages done, many, many to go, although I've scribbled all over all of the pages now)
SLEEEEEEP. (yes. Off to take a quick nap before my SPIN meeting tonight.)

On the list of things that I didn't really want to do today...

...pull a tick out of my leg. (links below for search engine arrivals) Niiiiiice. So now of course, I'm looking through lists of tick-borne diseases. Great. :P Fortunately, it seems that Lyme Disease (the one I was worried about BEFORE I found a whole bunch of other ones) is only transmitted 36-48 hours after being bitten, and I was bitten about nine or ten hours ago when I was disc golfing. (I got a 33 and a 32 for each of the nine holes we played. 31's my best. In case you were wondering.) Anyway, in case anyone has arrived here from a search engine, here is a site with pictures (so NNY...don't click) of bugs and other creepies. For local British Columbians, here is a site from Victoria.

Also on my list of things I didn't want to do today...run out of gas! Yay me! So, since bad things are supposed to come in threes, is my bed going to collapse when I lie down on it tonight? *snark*

Cookie for who knows what this is from.

Justy and Bimkins are out of the running. :P

*sings in very high pitched voice*
"o/~ Doooom!! Doom, doom doom, doomdoomdoooooooom!!! o/~"

(SIX MONTHS LATER)

"o/~ Doom, doom dooooomdoom doom. o/~ The end. Hey, what's that? *looks out at Earth from the space ship*"

Political post.

So I heard from Bimkins that Christopher Walken is running for President in 2008. Interesting, assuming it's not a hoax. I don't follow politics or Hollywood very much (except Jennifer Garner. I'm slightly obsessed with Jennifer Garner.)

Looking around the site, I find I'm not a fan of the quote in the upper right hand corner of the index, "If you want to learn how to build a house, build a house. Don't ask anybody, just build a house." I suppose it could be interpreted two ways. To learn how to do something, just do it. But I think that it wastes a lot of time to jump into something without asking how to do it!

He has some good, if vague ideas, but since he's only proclaimed his intentions a few days ago it will probably get better.

Whee!

My dresser is together, my clothes are in it, my closet is slowly being emptied, my old dresser is out of my room and holding plants and art supplies next to my easel in the rec room.

And I figured out how to post pictures from flickr. Sweeeeeeeeeet.

Bask in the adorableness that was/is me, and gaze in awe at how blonde I was when I was a kid.

My mom took this picture of me yesterday.

This is a picture of my that my mom took of me when I was four. Same house, within three metres of where the first picture was taken. I'm even holding a flower with my right hand in both. I swear, we didn't know about that.

Why am I like the dresser in my room?

Because neither of us are completely together. Ba dum dum.

I got a dresser from Ikea today, and it's about halfway finished. My back hurts.

Tuesday, August 09, 2005

I swear I won't do this too much...

...but I have to give a KoL update...since Kit isn't online. :P On to the weird stuff that very few will understand.

I bought my store (Krystal's Fine Wares) for 50k meat, saw someone had put 9 hellion cubes for sale at 100 meat each, bought them all, sold them for 4500 meat each and made back almost what I paid for my store in less than an hour. I bought a hellion cube and sent it to the player who bought it all, who then made me a hell ramen and sent me an eye-pod for my gravy fairy! *claps hands*

And yes. I intentionally wrote the above so that those who aren't in the know have NO IDEA WHAT I'M ON ABOUT! HA! Take that all you World of Warcraft people (hi Donna!).

Holy crap, a post.

It's times like this that I feel fortunate to not be as popular as Dooce or some of the other people on my blogroll. If they'd left writing for as long as I had, their mailbox would be full of "ARE YOU DEAD?!?!?!" emails. *checks mailbox and a moth flies out of it* So, what up? You guys don't care? ;)

Last weekend Daveand I went to Seattle for the World Freestyle Frisbee Championships. It was really cool...kind of like watching rhythmic gymnastics in pairs with a disc or two. We also managed to play a 19 hole disc golf course in Lake Stevens (MUCH FUN) and five holes in Bellingham before it got too dark. I ate the great Amarrrican food of Taco Bell and Jack in the Box. Did you know you could get an egg roll at Jack in the Box?!?! Why was I not informed of this?! It's good stuff! I got a mild sunburn on my shoulders for the first time in a few years...normally I'm careful and/or lucky. I usually just get some burn on my face. Of course, even though it was mild I whined about it, but I got to mix up some magic healing oil (5 drops lavender, 2 drops peppermint, 2 drops sandalwood topped up with about 3 mL [40 drops or so] sweet almond oil)

I dyed my hair a couple days ago...it was supposed to be bright red, but it was more dark burgandy since I was a dope and forgot to strip out the other dyes first. Also, it didn't take on my roots, so I had two inch brown roots. Classy. Last night I stripped it all out, so now I have hot magenta locks, with two inch blonde roots. Tonight is the application of the orange/red dye. Sometimes I wonder what my hair is made of that it doesn't all break off.

Other than that, I've been cleaning my room, playing Kingdom of Loathing (characters are Krystal_Bandh and KarintheGreat), doing laundry, drinking copious amounts of Diet Coke, playing Ultimate and disc golf, helping with kids karate, walking around my new university so I know where the hell everything is and so on. It's a good life.

(I JUST LOST MY ENTIRE POST BUT RECOVERED IT...HOLY CRAP.)

Oh, Dave and I are thinking of going camping on Pender Island sometime this August...there's a disc golf course there, and we're thinking of entering the BC Provincial Disc Golf Championships...which is being held on Pender September 17-18. We figure we'd better practice first rather than going in cold. Anyone interested in going camping? You can disc golf or not, but we'll be going twice for sure (Saturday/Sunday).
